"Don't Chase the Honey" is a fable that demonstrates that greed and disobedience will cause great problems. Incorporating moral lessons, the story provides a viable resource for a parent, teacher or other adult who might wish to impart a message about family, values, and appreciating what you have been given.
Myles is a young bee who thinks himself unhappy because he doesn't have all the things that "honey" can buy. As a young bee, he desires the latest "bee-toy"; as he grows older, he wants the latest, nicest "bee-car". His greed leads him to "chase the honey", in strict defiance of his father, Wise Bee, who encouraged Myles to always be happy with what he had been given.
In pursuit of chasing the honey, Myles is befriended, in a way, by Unfaithful Bee, an ill- tempered bee who has been jaded by his chase of honey, but who continues the chase with zeal. Unfaithful Bee leads Myles astray, and Myles becomes trapped in a jar by a human, sharing his space with other bees who have realized their mistake in chasing the honey.
The love of his father prevails, however, and Myles and the other bees are rescued by the efforts of Wise Bee. Myles understands the errors of his ways, and is welcomed back with open wings by his father, to live a good life, free of greed.
Filled with metaphors, whimsical characters and valuable moral lessons, "Don't Chase the Honey" is designed to entertain, as well as to enlighten and provoke thought from both young and old readers alike.
